Kevin Smith in the past wrote a screenplay for The Six Million Dollar Man, and an executive and the studio quipped that the screenplay read more like a comic then a movie. Instead of letting that bother him, Kevin thought of it has a compliment and a suggestion and has now turned his childhood hero into a comic book hero.
By the way anyone not familiar with The Six Million Dollar Man, it was a great show in the mid seventies about an ex-astronaut, Steve Austin (Lee Majors) who is nearly killed in action and is rebuilt with advanced technology. That tech, which is called bionics, is so highly advanced that he has increased powers. A bionic left eye that can zoom in like a camera and snap photos, and is capable of night vision.
