Battle Of Artemisium Producer Says Movie Is Not A Prequel OR Sequel to 300 |

In the below video interview Producer Mark Canton discusses some upcoming movies such as Immortals, Piranha 3DD and Emperor with Collider. It's all very interesting stuff but what caught my eye was his description of the currently in development follow up to Zack Snyder's 300 which he describes as neither a prequel nor a sequel. Ok, but we know that the story will focus on Rodrigo Santoro's character Xerxes who was involved in the battle of Thermopylae. So unless that character can be in two places at once the follow up must happen either before or after the events of 300, thus making it either a prequel or a sequel? I guess he must mean that it won't be a direct continuation or prologue to the story told in 300.
