BOX OFFICE: CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Ranked As The Highest Grossing Film Of 2016 |

2016 was a favourable year for fantasy, animated features, and - most importantly - comic book films! According to an analysis from The Hollywood Reporter (via Box Office Mojo), Marvel Studios' Captain America: Civil War lead 2016 with a $1.15 billion haul at the box office, with Disney and Pixar's Finding Dory coming in a close second with $1.028 billion. Several other CBM's found their way into the top 10 as well, including Batman v Superman, Deadpool, and Suicide Squad.
As a whole, 2016 wasn't a great year for everyone; only 26 films managed to cross $100 million domestically, and a collection of box office bombs ( such as God of Egypt, Ben-Hur, The Finest Hours, and Allied) lost a combined total of about $1 billion.
