BOX OFFICE: Captain America: The First Avenger Opens With $5M In China! PDF Print E-mail

Out of all comic book movies that were released this year, we can safely say that Marvel's big screen adaptation Captain America: The First Avenger directed by Joe Johnston had the hardest job of getting big numbers internationally. But, considering everything, the star-spangled hero managed to collect $175 million, including the numbers from China, where it opened this weekend. The Hollywood Reporter has more info on that: "Fifth was Paramount’s release of comic book adaptation Captain America: The First Avenger, which opened in China ($5 million over three days from 7,000 sites), and drew $8 million on the weekend overall from 9,039 situations in 60 territories." So, basically, Captain America had a bigger opening weekend in China than Kenneth Branagh's Thor which opened with $3.8M and went on to grossing $20M overall. Could we see Cap on a $200M mark internationally? I think so. Film still has to open in Japan. As
