BOX OFFICE: CHRONICLE Tied With THE WOMAN IN BLACK For First Place |

Early predictions for this weekend at the box office suggest that 20th Century Fox's Chronicle - a found footage/superhero film directed by Josh Trank which follows three teenagers with super powers - will possibly make the same amount as as CBS Films' The Woman In Black. Deadline says that both films will likely make $5-7 million on Friday, and perhaps $13-15 million over the weekend. So far, Woman In Black has held onto a slight lead longer than expected, and could come out on top. Still, check back later this weekend for a clearer idea of what to expect.
It's been said that, should Chronicle be a success at the box office, Fox could hire Josh Trank to helm their reboot of the Fantastic Four film franchise.
