BOX OFFICE: FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM Eyes $75 Million Debut; New IMAX Poster Released |

Variety reports that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is taking aim at an impressive $75 million opening weekend in North America next month, but will that be enough to launch what Warner Bros. and J.K. Rowling have envisioned as a five film series? Time will tell, but that number pales in comparison to the $169.2 million Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 debuted with.
Now, that was obviously the final instalment in a long running franchise, but it just goes to show just how much work Fantastic Beasts is going to have ahead of it. As always, it's entirely possible that $75 million projection could rise, but if reviews aren't good, it could very well plummet. If the movie is anything other than excellent, Fantastic Beasts could face an uphill struggle from the very start.
