Along with the first reviews for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (you can check out mine HERE), we have some updated box office estimates courtesy of Variety.
Our last report indicated that the Gareth Edwards-directed movie could take in between $280 and $350 million worldwide over the course of its first weekend in theaters, but these new numbers are a tad more conservative, placing the prequel in and around the $120-150 million domestic/$250-300 global mark - which of course is still very impressive, if not anything close to The Force Awakens' massive haul.
In addition, Doctor Strange has now passed Thor: The Dark World to become Marvel's seventh highest-grossing movie to date. We recently reported that the Scott Derrickson-helmed adventure had officially become the studio's most profitable character launch, but now that it's taken in a total of $647 million after less than 2 months on release, The Sorcerer Supreme's big-screen debut has the potential to break even more records.
