| BOX OFFICE: Rian Johnson's LOOPER Takes The #2 Spot With An Estimated $20 Million |

Sony Pictures have had a good weekend at the North American box office as they secured both #1 and #2 with Hotel Transylvania and Looper. The former is an animated film starring Adam Sandler and his regular cohorts Andy Samberg, Kevin James, Steve Buscemi and David Spade. That opened with $11 million yesterday and looks set to take around $39.5 million for the weekend. However, it was Looper (starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis) which has really impressed as it opened with a solid $6.9 million for an estimated weekend total of $19 million - $20 million. Not at all bad for an R-Rated film such as this one. Unfortunately, the news isn't quite so good for DREDD. It has already slipped right out of the Top 10, making a sequel extremely unlikely at this point.
