BOX OFFICE: THE BOURNE LEGACY Takes Aim At A $45 Million Weekend PDF Print E-mail

Thanks to big budget flops like Battleship, it hasn't been a particularly good year for Universal at the box office. However, The Hollywood Reporter now reveals that The Bourne Legacy is set to earn a little more in North America this weekend than originally expected. It is now expected to open today with between $15 million and $18 million, putting it on course for a total of around $45 million. With Matt Damon unwilling to return to the role of Jason Bourne without director Paul Greengrass (who is currently occupied with various other projects), the studio are hoping that Jeremy Renner's Aaron Cross will help them launch an entirely new franchise. How The Bourne Legacy performs this weekend will play a big role in whether or not that ultimately happens.
