Will it set a new opening weekend record? That is the question right now for The Dark Knight Rises. According to Friday estimates, the Christopher Nolan-directed film is expected to make somewhere between $80 million and $85 million. If the estimates hold, that would mean it's about even with Marvel's record-breaking The Avengers for opening day, but it seems it won't reach that opening day record set by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. While the opening day was always expected to be huge, it's the numbers for Saturday and Sunday that will play the biggest role.
Deadline also mentions that the film is now at $125.5 million worldwide, and that Hollywood is predicting an opening weekend in the range between $180 million and $200 million. Reports also adds something unusual, saying that Warner Bros. won't report any numbers this weekend:
