Deadline reports that the official number for North American midnight showings is in fact $30.640 million. A total of $2.232 million came from IMAX screenings, while this record obviously shatters the one set earlier in the year by Marvel's The Avengers. With a strong international opening, the highly anticipated threequel from Christopher Nolan has amassed a worldwide cume of $71 million. While there's no doubting that it will beat The Dark Knight's opening weekend record of $158 million, the question now remains over whether or not it will topple the $207.4 million earned by The Avengers. Meanwhile, a Warner Bros. insider tells the site that the tragic shooting in Colorado has done little to effect its box office haul. "What happened in Colorado is a tragedy, make no mistake about it.
