| BOX OFFICE: THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Surprises With A $65M Weekend; Nearing $500M Global |

The Dark Knight Rises only pulled in $18M domestically on Friday, but deadline is reporting that Saturday's take was forty-two percent higher with $25.6M. So instead of yesterday's prediction of a 78% drop from the opening weekend it's now projected to be a more reasonable drop of 59%.
Domestically the film has pulled in a hefty $290M through Sunday, making it the 3rd highest number for a movie's first 10 days in release. Second highest is The Dark Knight which during that same stretch totaled $313.7M, and Marvel's The Avengers is the champ with an astounding $373M. The Dark Knight Rises will now become the third fastest to reach $300M.
Globally The Dark Knight Rises is nearing a half a billion in its first 10 days. Fantastic numbers, but still not on pace with Nolan's previous Batman film.
