| BOX OFFICE: Warner Bros. Release Official Figures For THE DARK KNIGHT RISES |

Warner Bros. and several other box office tracking agencies decided not to release box office figures over the weekend as a sign of respect to those affected by the shooting in Aurora, Colorado. Unsurprisingly, this tragic event clearly put off many moviegoers in North America as The Dark Knight Rises made a domestic total of $160,887,295 (quite a way off the estimated $180+ million figures thrown around by analysts last week). Regardless, this still gives Christopher Nolan's epic finale the third highest opening weekend ever, below Marvel's The Avengers and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, and above The Dark Knight and The Hunger Games. It earned $75.7 million on Friday, $44.9 million on Saturday and $40.2 million on Sunday.
