Variety is reporting that Warner Bros., Village Roadshow, and Team Downey have put together a writers' room with several top names, including Nicole Perlman (Captain Marvel; Guardians of the Galaxy), Justin Malen (Baywatch), Gary Whitta (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Geneve Dworet-Robertson (Tomb Raider), and Kieran Fitzgerald (Snowden).
This is only the first step in making the long-rumored film a reality, but it's sounding more and more likely it goes on floors late next year or early 2018 after Robert Downey Jr. (Captain America: Civil War) fulfills his commitments on Marvel Studios' highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War, which is expected to begin its long production schedule next February.
In addition to Downey, Jude Law (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) is also expected to return as Dr. John Watson and Guy Ritchie (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword), who helmed the first two installments, is once again expected to be in the director's chair for the third installment.
