Well looks like once upon a time, ol' GRRM was a fan of Marvel comics and even wrote to the comic publisher and had a letter published in Avengers #12. Martin stated that the only characters worthy of becoming regular Fantastic Four villains were "Namor, Doc Doom, Hulk, and the Red Ghost." He goes on to call the Thinker, Mole Man, Puppet Master, and Diablo, "the poorest villains Marvel has ever introduced". Check out the letter in full below.
