Last week Deadline's sources broke the story that Paramount had delayed G.I. Joe: Retaliation so that they could include additional scenes for Channing Tatum's character Duke, and to also prevent his premature death. Tatum over the past year has seen his star rise with hit films The Vow and 21 Jump Street under his belt. The actor also has Steven Soderbergh's male stripper film Magic Mike coming out very soon. If it's a hit you could understand Paramount's reluctance to kill him off and limit him to just a brief cameo.
