In yet another segment from Total Film's visit to the set of Marvel's much-anticipated Captain America: The First Avenger film, director Joe Johnston recalled the fiasco of finding a leading man, and eventually finding 'Steve Rogers' in actor Chris Evans. Evans himself also reminisces coming on board, and reiterates his self-doubt. And with Johnston also revealing Evans' reaction after seeing a final cut, read on below.
"We had some artwork and we took Chris and put him in the outfit without him knowing it, just to see how great he would look," remembers Johnston. He and the producers considered a multitude of other actors, but none had "that spark." I don't thing we even screentested Chris once we found him and convinced him that this would be the movie to do."
