Besides the The Dark Knight Rises being Nolan's last Batman film, it will also be the last time that Wally Pfister will be Nolan's cinematographer. Pfister has worked with Nolan since Momento, and has decided to spread his wings and become a director as well. He'll be helming a thriller, which might begin filming in the fall or winter of this year. Nolan will be on board as a producer.
When Pfister was asked if he'll pull double duties as both a cinematographer and director for his own film, he responded: “Hell no. All I care about right now is screenplay and performance. … The look is not my focus. I don’t want to be micromanaging how someone lights the film.
