COMICS: Axel Alonso Says Marvel Accomplished Their Goals With CIVIL WAR II |

In comics, big crossover events typically have 3 purposes -
1.) to dramatically alter the landscape so new and fresh ideas can be formed.
2.) spike lagging sales
3.) provide an exit strategy when a publisher has been backed into a continuity corner
Without naming names, the various crossover events from Marvel and DC over the years have typically been a result of one or a mixture of all three of those agendas. As comic readers, where do you think Civil War II falls? Here are some of the desired end goals the House of Ideas had in mind according to Axel Alonso.
"We accomplished what we wanted with the story. Of course, we wish we could’ve wrapped it up on time, and we’re sorry about that, but we didn’t want to do that at the expense of the overall quality of the final package — and we think Brain and David wrote a beautiful story.
