"Let's face it. They clash straight away," Cullen Bunn told Newsarama when asked about the first meeting between Scarlet Spider and Venom. "I know, it's something of a cliché, but I think we've found a reason that not only makes sense, but it adds a really interesting dynamic to the characters going forward.
