When it came to writing the New 52, George Pérez had plenty of problems because of the timeline that his book took place in. He had to write Superman five-years ahead of Grant Morrison's Action Comics which caused problems with the freedom he had on the book. During the Superman Day celebration, he spilled all the beans. The freedom he had on the book: "I had no idea Grant Morrison was going to be working on another Superman title, I had no idea I was doing it five years ahead, which means, my story I couldn't do certain things without knowing what he did," The communication between Grant Morrison and himself: "Grant wasn't telling everybody, so I was kind of stuck, who exists, DC couldn't give me answers.
