It's time to meet Alpha. The 15 year-old teenager who will get Spider powers in a fashion that will pay homage to the 1962 origin of Spider-Man. Alpha will become Spider-Man's sidekick to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Spider-Man in the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man #692.
This story will show us that Peter's days as a Daily Bugle reporter are long gone and that he is currently working at a research firm where Andy and his school take a field trip to Peter's lab for a class project when Andy will eventually get zapped by Peter's malfuntioncing experiment leading Andy to gain powers...sound familiar? Peter becomes haunted by the way he gained his powers and his failure to use them properly which eventually led to his Uncle's death so Peter offers Andy some help. Peter now finally gains his own "Robin", but how will that effect his life?
