I first reported director Nicolas Winding Refn's interest and his #1 candidate to play Wonder Woman back in June. Some (a lot) people are against Christina Hendricks playing Diana Prince in a Wonder Woman movie. My initial reaction was surprise which quickly turned into excitement as I think Refn is a brilliant auteur. Having just recently seen the brilliant Drive, I think Refn is someone Hollywood desperately needs amidst the sea of remakes and unoriginal material being mass produced by many Hollywood filmmakers.
I thought many people would likewise be enthused to hear Refn's choice for the titular character or at the very least be excited that such a brilliant director is showing interest in a character that many directors and actresses rightfully fear to approach.
