When Joss Whedon was announced as being the man who would bring The Avengers to our screens, may fans assumed (or hoped anyway) that the director would draft in some cast members from his various beloved tv projects. Of course, that wasn't to be the case, but now that Whedon has been tasked with overseeing Marvel's S.H.I.E.L.D tv show, could we any familiar faces pop up? One of the most popular characters in Whedon's back catalog is River Tam, the mentally unstable psychic girl played so memorably by Summer Glau in the Firefly tv series and its big screen spin-off, Serenity.
