David Ayer Pens A Heartfelt Note Reflecting On SUICIDE SQUAD; Regrets Not Making Joker The Main Villain |

Despite a historically bad reception from critics and fans alike, David Ayer's Suicide Squad - Warner Bros.' latest entry in their ever-expanding DC Cinematic Universe - was able to persevere and racked up over $745.6 million at the worldwide box office, which made it the tenth highest-grossing film and fourth highest grossing superhero movie of 2016. Certainly not a bad haul for the worst heroes ever.
While the box office success was more than enough to get the ball rolling on a Harley Quinn-led spin-off, tentatively titled Gotham City Sirens, starring Margot Robbie and with Ayer once again back in the director's chair, the widespread disdain for Ayer's film didn't do much good for the DCEU brand, which has been on somewhat of a downward spiral ever since the release of Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice early last year.
