The studio has staked claim to the Memorial Day 2014 weekend for the follow-up film. Not much is known about the plot, although in early musings returning director Rupert Wyatt has said he wanted to go for a Full Metal Jacket kind of vibe.
The first draft of the script was written by Rise's Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, although Contagion screenwriter Scott Z. Burns was recently announced as the new writer on the project. Andy Serkis will be returning as Caesar.
