Disney Selects Niki Caro To Direct And Bill Kong To Produce The Live Action Adaptation Of MULAN |

With Beauty and the Beast on track to be a huge box office hit, it's no surprise that Disney is continuing at full speed with adaptations of their animated classics. The studio's remake of Mulan is next on the list, and Niki Caro has now been confirmed to helm the movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio made an effort to find an Asian director (consulting Ang Lee and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Jiang Wen, who both had to pass) before settling on Caro. Disney also considered Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, and Michelle MacLaren (Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones.) Caro being hired to direct the film will most likely nix her chances of directing Marvel Studios' Captain Marvel film, for which she was reportedly in the running.
