During the early development for Warner Bros.' upcoming follow-up to 300, Battle Of Artemisia, there was interest in bringing back Gerard Butler's King Leonidas for a cameo appearance. Butler even said that he'd love to do it if it was "something special". With production underway for a 2013 release, many have been wondering if Butler was still interested in making an appearance. However, in an interview with MTV, the actor confirms that he won't have anything to do with the Noam Murro-directed film.
"Oh, yeah, I'm not doing it," Butler told the site. "They're filming [the '300' sequel] right now. I wish them the best, but it didn't [work out]. It wasn't really my thing."
The cast currently consists of Evan Green, Rodrigo Santoro (who reprises his role as King Xerxes from the first movie), Sullivan Stapleton, Callan Mulvey and Jack O'Connell.
