Variety reports that Guillermo del Toro will produce AND direct Beauty and the Beast for Warner Bros. Credited as a co-writer on both instalments of their two-part adaptation of The Hobbit, he passed on the opportunity to helm those movies before the The Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson decided to take charge.
