James Gunn On Star-Lord Discovering That A Freakin' Planet Is His Father In GOTG Vol. 2 |

In a new report on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, USA Today got the scoop from director/writer James Gunn that Peter Quill's parentage will be at the forefront of the sequel. When Star-Lord eventually learns that his father is Ego the Living Planet (played by Kurt Russell), his reaction will be about what you would expect from the narcissistic hero.
"It runs the gamut of emotions for him, wanting to understand why his father wasn’t around to quickly idolizing him and ultimately learning the reality of the relationship and comparing the man who sired him to the man who raised him."
It seems that Yondu may have a bit of jealousy concerning his adoptive son growing closer to his biological father. However, when the casting call for the role was first circulating during the early stage's of the film, the role of Ego the Living Planet was designated the villain of the pic.
