Talking at the "Celluloid Heroes" panel at this weekend's MorrisonCon in Las Vegas, Guardians of the Galaxy writer and director James Gunn was quizzed about exactly how much freedom he has with casting the Marvel Studios movie. "It's not cast-dependent. We could make the movie with unknowns if we wanted to," he revealed. "I can't talk too much about this, because Marvel will kill me!" Of course, there's one character in particular that fans care more about that the rest. Rocket Raccoon. "There's such a long, long list for all our casting choices, we've barely begun."
Finally, he revealed which other properties he would like to adapt. "There's only four comics properties that ever interested me in turning them into movies," Gunn declared. "One was 'We3.' The others were 'Thunderbolts,' 'Hit Monkey'...and 'Guardians Of The Galaxy.'"
