The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Johnny Rosenthal (Bad Santa 2) has been hired by Summit to write the big screen adaptation of Brian Haberlin's Area 52. The project has been in development almost since it was first released by Image Comics way back in 2001, but it was Summit who picked it up last year. Red 2's Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian will produce alongside Benderspink's J.C. Spink, Chris Bender and Jake Weiner. According to the site, "The story follows a group of misfit soldiers stationed at a remote military base in Antarctica known as Area 52 that guard a storage facility in which top-secret, other-worldly technologies and weapons are kept and analysed.
