Very interesting, right? Instead of the monster that Shane was presented as we're given a glimpse at an individual who's even more layered,conflicted that previously shown. That sounds like damn good television but I can understand why the producers didn't follow through with that idea as it would put Rick in a precarious relationship with the audience when he's already teeter tottering on the protagonist slope.
