In an interview with The Playlist, Chronicle director Josh Trank admits that a follow up is by no means set in stone, and suggests that even if Fox wanted to move ahead with a sequel, he may not..
"I'm still not sure [about 'Chronicle 2']. I was nervous this type of movie would be perceived as a gimmick. So I was in denial for awhile about what the potential of the film could be."
Admittedly, as much as I would love to see a sequel to the brilliant Chronicle, I'm not sure using the same found footage technique would really work a second time. It may be better to switch to a more conventional style, but would that have the same impact? Anyway, Trank also addressed those Fantastic Four reboot rumors that refuse to go away.
