Joss Whedon Shares Thoughts On Negative Reviews THE AVENGERS Received PDF Print E-mail

Despite all the success and critical acclaim Marvel's The Avengers superhero bonanza received, there were a few casual negative reviews thrown at this year's highest-grossing film so far. However, one review by a critic from the New York Times stood out when ‘Nick Fury’ actor Samuel L. Jackson made headlines suggesting the reviewer “needs a new job!” While writer-director Joss Whedon has acknowledged the film's flaws, recently speaking with the New York Post , the filmmaker respectfully addressed the incident. “I went into a bubble when the film came out, but do know that Sam Jackson got pretty huffy,” Whedon says. “I don’t think a flame war is going to help anybody. People are allowed to not like the film, but I do get annoyed when somebody really hasn’t done their homework. A lot of reporting in the negative reviews . . . was more like they were reviewing the [superhero]
