At the Producers Guild of America's annual Produced By conference in LA, X-Men: First Class producer Lauren Shuler Donner was a part of a panel where the discussion turned to 3D. Not going into a huge amount of detail, she did explain the reasons why the critically acclaimed latest installment of the mutant franchise wasn't converted into the format. (although the rushed production surely played a part?)
"We chose not to do 3D. I believe the movie itself tells you whether it should be 3D. And I believe there's a little too much 3D right now. I think, especially in this economy, parents don't always want to spend that extra money."
