In an interview with Vulture, director Rian Johnson was asked whether he has been approached by any of the major studios to helm a comic book movie. As you can see from reading his comments below, he's been approached and IS interested, but clearly seems far more intent at this point in pursuing original projects like Looper. A shame, but understandable, especially as his latest film has been heralded as a "masterpiece"!
"There's always conversations. It's flattering to be in that circle of people who are thought about for those things, and I'm a big fan of those movies, so it's fun to talk about them.
