MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL Holds Off Stiff Competition To Remain #1 At US Box Office PDF Print E-mail

This weekend is expected to be one of the busiest of the year at theatres in the US with several big releases all competing against one another. However, it's Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol which has managed to hold on to #1 spot after its full nationwide release on Wednesday. Having already earned upwards of $128 million worldwide, and with a budget of $140 million, a sequel is all but guaranteed at this point (Ghost Protocol has yet to open in many territories and is likely to pull in another $20 million in the US alone this weekend). Meanwhile, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is in second place and has so far grossed $58.8 million in its first week of release.
