Dredd is neither great, nor is it bad. I would consider it slightly above average with most of the memorable scenes belonging to Olivia Thirlby's Judge Anderson. She gives a stand out performance, every scene that has her as the focal point is sensational. Karl Urban is no slouch either, he looks and acts the part perfectly. His enthusiasm for the role definitely elevates the mostly mediocre action sequences. The movie suffers from forgettable villains, a thin plot, and an absolute absence of satire.
