It's official. Nina Dobrev is returning for the series finale of The Vampire Diaries,
The xXx: The Return of Xander Cage actress announced the news herself on Thursday afternoon with a post on her personal Instagram account, which almost immediately sent fans into a frenzy worldwide. Considering the eighth and final season began production on episode 816 (the series finale) earlier this week and with filming expected to wrap up relatively soon, it was only a matter of time before we received word on whether or not Dobrev would indeed make a return as Elena Gilbert (and/or as her doppelgänger Katherine Pierce) and now the good news has arrived.
