As I was on my way home from seeing Green Lantern a friend of mine txt me to ask how it was. I replied "It was ok, not quite as bad as I was expecting" or some such, and he replied; "So it was shite then?". I laughed because he is such a miserable git and then thought about it. Is there any room for mediocrity in the world of the big budget, special effects driven "blockbuster"? Any real grey area? Is a movie like Green Lantern, despite having some redeeming features, destined to be lumped in with the forgettable rubbish simply because it failed to impress as much as it's Summer competition?
