Showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker Originally Planned To Have Prince Appear On LUKE CAGE |

One of the smaller running jokes in Netflix and Marvel's Luke Cage was Pop's Swear Jar. The jar's purpose in the show seemed pretty simple; a small coffee canister, being used to collect dollar bills from anyone who used foul language in Pop's Barbershop, all while symbolizing Pop's status as the moral centre of a crime-filled Harlem.
As it turns out, showrunner Cheo Coker had a greater plan for the jar outside of the show's narrative, as he wanted to use it as a means to attract legendary musician, Prince, for the show's final episode. "The "Swear Jar" was for Prince. I was going to show him the first two episodes and convince him to play in episode 13," Coker revealed on his Twitter page.
