Sony Pictures Will Distribute EVIL DEAD Remake; Sam Raimi And Bruce Campbell To Produce |

Considered by many to be one of the greatest horror movies ever, the news that Evil Dead would be receiving the remake treatment was met with a mixed reaction However, it's going ahead whether fans like it or not and both Sony and FilmDistrict have today issued a press release detailing their plans for distribution as well as some more information on the film itself. Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions and FilmDistrict have partnered with Ghost House Pictures on a worldwide deal—excluding U.K. and France —for Sony Pictures to distribute the remake of Evil Dead. The announcement was made by Steven Bersch, SPWA President, and Peter Schlessel, CEO of FilmDistrict. Lia Buman, FilmDistrict's EVP of Acquisitions, will oversee the project.
