J.J. Abram's Super 8 has defied the odds by hitting the top spot this weekend at the box office, earning $37 million compared to the $25 million of last week's box office winner, X-Men: First Class (which is now approaching $100 million domestically). Super 8 bumped off the previous weekend’s No. 1 movie, the comic-book prequel X-Men: First Class, which slipped to second-place with $25 million. First Class raised its domestic total to $98.9 million. Both Super 8 and X-Men: First Class are out now at your local theater!
