SUPERHEROSTUFF: Happy Birthday Jack Kirby! PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 28 August 2012 13:35
Comic fans can spot a Jack Kirby drawing from a mile away. His signature style and iconic creations have been setting the bar for other artists throughout his illustrious 58-year comic book career (and still for years after.) The man who first drew Captain America punching Hitler in the face in 1941 served on the western front of World War II just two years later. He returned home from the war and continued to serve us with classics like Sgt. Rock, The Avengers, X-Men, and countless others up until his death in 1994. Teaming with all-stars like Stan Lee, Kirby created the look and feel of many of our favorite heroes, most of which are still around today. Mr. Kirby, you've left us with a legacy that we can continue to celebrate every time we pick up a comic book. Your influence is undeniable and your legacy is incomparable, thank you.
