Thanks to chicagotribune we have the following news update: While it's much too soon to tell weather The Dark Knight Rises is as big a blockbuster as Avatar or The Avengers, with the news that AMC, the second largest theater chain, will be adding more midnight showings to meet demand, it very easily could be squaring off the big guns at the box office. AMC is also increasing the screenings to "The Dark Knight Trilogy" marathon showing casing the complete trilogy. AMC is also adding some more afternoon showings in IMAX. AMC said they have already sold over 23,000 tickets for "The Dark Knight Trilogy" marathon, which may be headed to shatter the record of "The Ultimate Marvel Marathon".
