Various sources are reporting that Marvel's The Avengers will earn between $65 million and $67 million for today; not a record, but a very impressive start nonetheless. The current worldwide total is being reported by Disney as $322.7 million and analyst predictions currently range from as low as $150 million to as high as $170 million. While this opening is still a long way off from the record set by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ($91M) it's still a real achievement for Joss Whedon's superhero ensemble. In related news, AMC Theatres has announced (via Deadline) that they earned almost $4M in total after over 30,000 fans flocked to midnight screenings and paid $40 each to see the "Ultimate Marvel Marathon". They're also reporting sell-out showings today in many of their locations. Click on the image below to view the full-size version (courtesy of Marvel).
