Emma Thomas (wife of Christopher Nolan and producer of The Dark Knight Rises) talked to Collider recently about Bane's role in the threequel and has assured fans that while their take on the villain isn't 100% faithful to the comic book version, the source material has still played a big role in how the story came together.
