The Upcoming MORTAL KOMBAT Reboot Has Finally Found A Director |

Warcraft was not the great video game movie we hoped for, and now all eyes are on Assassin's Creed next month. We'll have to wait and see whether or not that works out, but another high profile video game adaptation on the way is Mortal Kombat. The 1995 movie did pretty wel at the box office, but the sequel - Mortal Kombat: Annihilation - pretty much killed the franchise, and it's remained in development hell ever since. However, the success of web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy changed that.
As a result, New Line is moving forward with a big screen reboot, and Variety reports that Simon McQuoid is in talks to take the helm. The Australian director is best known for his commercials work, and he's contributed to high profile campaigns related to both PlayStation and the Halo franchise. Mortal Kombat is a big step up for him then, but at least he's no stranger to the world of video games.
