The Hollywood Reporter reveal that Tommy Wirkola will write and direct Relativity's big screen adaptation of Afterburn. 300 star Gerard Butler is attached to star. Wirkola is best known for Dead Snow, the 2009 Norwegian Nazi zombie movie. He will make his English language debut with 2013's Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton. Neal Moritz, Toby Jaffe, Tobey Maguire and Ryan Kavanaugh are producing. Scott Chitwood and Paul Ens' graphic novel is described as being set in a future where solar flares have left half the world a ravaged wasteland filled with mutants and pirates.
